Very good way to show the childhood though wide-open sharp eyes with reflected outside world in, natural expression and typical pose. B&W conversion has done perfectly, great quality! I usually use double saturation method to convert to B&W, but seems to me use channel mixer gives better result. The only point to critique I can find is the face looks a little flat, strait light? On another hand it puts right accents on picture, perfectly emphasizes face and look.

I am glad I came across this fine work, is it a pleasure, my compliments!

I like how the photo comes across natural, you caught a good moment. Children look at you like this all the time, but trying to catch it on film is whole different matter. I like that the subject is not dead center. Perhaps the only improvement I could think of is that with a lot of effort you could have cloned out the white specks on the floor. (I would not have the time for that...)

Cheers!

Hi Mark, every one on PN is trying to give a different look to their shots and u did it perfectly here, like the angle, expression of the child star also like the negative space on the left. Nice B&W tone.

Regards.

Thanks to all for your kind comments and advice. You know, I don't mind receiving low ratings when they're justified, and I think that 5's are fair on this photo, but I'm curious as to why someone felt fit to give a 3/2 on this one. Is it really that bad or did I offend somebody by only giving them a 5?

Mark, this portraitis well above average--especially since it hasn't been PS'ed to death. Interesting and unusual angle, good choice of focus, good lighting--given the current rating environment here I can't imagine how anyone could rate this below average. 5/6 for me, and I'm not a particularly high rater. Nice shot!

Thanks Pawel. It's amazing how something so obvious can be missed (I think I keep looking at the eyes!)- I've deliberately held off printing this one until I got some feedback. How do others feel about the white spots on the floor, as mentioned by another poster?

Her face and hair is as good as anyone could want it. I think the flooring is just about right, the white spots don`t add anything to the composition, and are, in fact, distracting. Without the spots this would be top marks, as is, I rate it 7/6

Came late Mark. The eyes are realy the center of attention.I like the original angle .I think that the white dots especially on the upper part above her head can be elliminated, as they are distructing from the main interest. beautiful child.
