alecee 0 Posted March 6, 2005 Imagine freshly painted murals on the Temple walls. Can't resist taking a shot. No manipulations here, straight from the camera. Link to comment
bolti_ankheen 0 Posted March 6, 2005 Alec Ee nice image, like to see just the foreground, background is a bit distracking even it add abother thought too. Regards. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted March 6, 2005 The slight white outline on the main maroon column is from the side wall which is painted yellow. Bolti, I made a higher DOF to show all the details found in this temple. I shall go back to take some mood shots when the light is good. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted March 6, 2005 Very good capture.I also find the bakground images distracting. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted March 6, 2005 Saturation for the eye and mind. Fine vivid capture Alec. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted March 6, 2005 I like the background to the left, since it adds depth to the image: showing the surroundings proves this is just one image and makes you imagine a very complex structure. I do not like a lot the background to the right for two small reasons: some highlights toward the bottom, and some electric appliance on the roof. However, is nice and colorful and I will be waiting to see what you will get in your next visits to this venue. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 6, 2005 Colorful and eye-catching. I agree with the comment about the left background being more appealing than the right side background. You could play around with different crops on this one, Alec, and see what different effects you get from doing so. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted March 6, 2005 Thanks for coming by guys. Sal, Kim this temple along Serangoon Road is part of "Little India" in Singapore. On week-ends there are thousands of Indian permanent resident workers who congregate and just have a good time. As you can see from the attached image, the temple is freshly painted and can provide many interesting backdrops for those creative minded. The morning light is at a super angle so I'll go back again when it's good. Ian Lloyd, a National Geograpic photojournalist who resides in Singapore for more than 25 years took a very interesting portrait here for NG's January 2005 issue. Will post it when I can find the digital image on the web. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 7, 2005 Interesting place and lots of photo ops there, Alec. I'm jealous! Link to comment
team_papua 0 Posted March 7, 2005 Again, excellent colors here Alec. Quick question: does the D70 work ok with regular Nikon/Sigma AF lenses, I'm thinking of getting one & using the Sony 828 as a spare as it's so light. Advice - cheers buddy - patrick Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted March 7, 2005 Right Kim wish you were here. To make you more jealous here's an attachment from photojournalist Ian Lloyd whose image appeared in the Jan 2005 issue of National Geographic. Patrick, definitely. Nikon D70 can use Sigma lens. I understand the Sigma AF 70-300mm Apo 4-5.6 Macro super 11 provides very good colors and clarity. I think it is also one of the very few in that range to give you the option of using macro settings as well. So it's a good buy. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted March 7, 2005 Alec, fantastic colours. It's your excellent camera or your skills? : ) I would say your skills manipulated the camera. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted March 8, 2005 Thanks Cherlyn. Any reasonably good camera can take a clear image of this composition. You're right to say it's spotting it which makes the difference. ^_^ Link to comment
