oskar 0 Posted March 6, 2005 Nice portrait. What about the bright spot behind the head (left). Could you burn that? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 6, 2005 First off, I can't believe how much older Bobby looks compared to photos posted of him only a few months ago. I think the sculpture made a fantastic setting for this portrait. I'm not sure how to articulate why but the juxtoposition works for me. I love the strange shadow. I know you don't use flash. What was the light source? Was this indoors or out? That hot spot should probably bother me but it doesn't (except that it's perplexing). From where the light appears to originate, it seems that area should be very dark. Perhaps it's Bobby's aura. My only suggestion would be to consider cropping just a tad off the top. That, of course, is coming from someone who tends to lobotomize most human models so take it with a grain of salt. Link to comment
ivan_dzo 1 Posted March 6, 2005 The right hand side with the sculpture is great and the boy is well shot with good eye contact. I like the profile shadow but the bright spot really distracts. Also the background on our left is confusing. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted March 15, 2005 Thanks everyone for your comments. This was shot in the very late afternoon, but the metal structure was really picking up the light. The biggest question seems to be about the very hot area to the left of my son--I've toned it down some in a final print (flashed it some before toning). I'm pretty happy with this one--decent expression on his face, interesting background, and I like the silhouette. He likes it, too, so it's now framed and up on the family portrait wall. Thanks again for your comments. Link to comment
