pjmeade 12 Posted March 9, 2005 This man was sitting alone in St James's Park. It was freezing with lots of snow in the air.I have cropped the shot to remove some trees and people at the top of the frame and some railings on the right.I have tried to produce a feeling of emptiness and abandonment, which is why I have left the large open area in front. Have I acheived that? Is the main character too high in the frame? What could I have done to produce a better image? Thanks. P. Link to comment
nick_de_haan 0 Posted April 22, 2005 You did a very good job capturing a feeling of loneliness and abandonment. I also like the panoramic crop. The benches sweeping from the bottom left up to the top right make the empty foreground is necessary for this picture and help the mood. I would have preferred the subject to have been one bench over to the right. As I look at the picture my eyes sweep from the bottom left to the top right. So the ideal location for the subject would have been off-center to the right and near the top of the frame. -Nick Link to comment

zorro1 0 Posted May 7, 2006 it's a strange decision to put the figure in the centre:) if it was at the lower corner, there is a way for his thoughts to go further... if it was at the highest corner..one can think until reaching the lonely one.. ....now I am very focused on the empty benches:) Link to comment
