This is the colour version of one I submitted a few months ago.

Great eye contact but I feel the background lets down a super natural portrait.

I love this a lot. The light is great, his expression is very natural and cute. Only the background is a little messy, but you know it already. Especially the right side. If it was my work I would try to clone the left side to the right and it would be less distractive. Great job anyways.

What a sweet boy. If you have knowledge in PS I might burn in the backround, highlight his eyes and crop off to his left a bit. Hope you don't mind, just for example (and practice in the darkroom) I played in PS. Wonderful expression!His eyes appear to have a blue cast to the whites, maybe the backround influence.

Thanks Jayme, the adjustments you suggested make for a better portrait all round. I do have PS and it seems the way to go for 21st Century photography, there is no other solution it seems, top notch advice, thanks.

What a GREAT expression! Just the right amount of cute and impish charm...100% boy! Wonderful capture. You have made him quite relaxed, his hand and finger placement are well done, something I as a newbe am still struggling with. Perfect catch lights in the eyes. Just the right amount of smile as well. I agree with the others that the DOF could have been tighter, but the greatness of the boy makes you not ever notice the background.
