Only manipulation, other than extreme enlargement of a small piece of the negative, is of the contrast. I discovered a technique of flattening the contrast almost all the way to reduce tonal gradations, and then bringing it back up to bring whites and blacks back to normal. The rest of the look - the pixelization - is an artifact of resizing the image digitally. I love the effect.
