richard hans 0 Posted February 23, 2005 Fantastic light, the composition are exquistite & artistic, very effective! 7/6 Link to comment
catalin.ropot 0 Posted February 23, 2005 I like it. To bad you haven't got time to shot it at 0 mph. Congrats! Link to comment
jay_patel 0 Posted February 23, 2005 Yeah...I agree with the above comment. Slow down and take the photos (or smell the roses). Nice photo either way. Link to comment
lauro1 0 Posted February 23, 2005 This is a great shot. The picture division into three triangular pieces is what makes this photograph be splendid, without forgetting the extraordinary colour treatment. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 23, 2005 I think it's clear there's no intent to portray this as "realistic"... it's already got "problems" because it was taken at 70mph, so what's a bit of oversaturation? :) I think both worked very well together to create an image that's dramatic and interesting. The composition is fantastic... hard to believe it was a split second in a moving car :) Well done! Link to comment
tomaso nigris 0 Posted February 23, 2005 I think you was very lucky that police didn't stop you. However in case you could show the picture and they will never fine you. Nice shot Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted February 23, 2005 Terrific light, composition, and color. It is indeed too bad that you didn't at least slowed down to 25mph to get sharp forground. OTOH, you could have sped up to 120mph and get a pretty neat abstract. ^_^ Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted February 23, 2005 I was going to ask where this was taken? I lived in Northern California for a time and it looks so familiar. Could be close to Rohnert Park off highway 101. The hills are right but I don't think so. Could be up around Healdsburg or Cloverdale. Could be close to Calistoga too but I doubt it because the vines don't look mature enough and you would be crazy to drive that fast in that area. I think it has to be somewhere off of highway 101. Factoring in traffic congestion I am betting Healdsburg / Cloverdale area. Enough daydreaming. I like it Jerry. For my money you can saturate to your hearts content. Link to comment
justin_kainoa_privett 0 Posted February 24, 2005 There's a lot of talk about saturation adjustments. Were the saturation levels adjusted? The saturation levels seem reasonable. I like the colors in this photo. My Canon A80 sometimes captures a super-green color, a more saturated, a mean-green. This is a nice green, a cool-green. Link to comment
doug_garrett 0 Posted February 24, 2005 I'm seeing lots of hills this green or even greener after the recent rains. Where was this taken? Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted February 24, 2005 All for your comments and ratings. I really did not anticipate to get so many responses and feel kind of overwhelmed. First of all, I did saturate the image for about 20% and also adjust the levels a little bit. The picture was taken on Highway 101 while I was on my way from Vegas to San Jose. So Larry, you're the winner. I believe the mountain must be much more greenish this year due to the unusunal amount of rain in CA. So for those who live in Bay Area, it's time for you to pick up your gears and take some pictures :) Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Jerry, I'm laughing, here, reading this. While looking at the majority of my pics' subject matter, you'd never guess that landscapes are what I LIKE to do, most. . .yet just can't seem to pull off. ...and here you are, snapping THIS out of a 70mph vehicle. Were you here, I'd do a "I'm not worthy" bow:) VERY well done, sir! Link to comment
chris d 0 Posted February 24, 2005 You should have stopped. AMAZING composition, but ruined somewhat by the lack of clarity due to motion... Link to comment
wayne_willis2 0 Posted February 24, 2005 great idea but i would like to see a still shot because the composition is so good. 6/7 Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted February 24, 2005 I wish I can get a similar quality image at 70mph. You have done very well, Jerry. The differenet shades of green segregating itself into different levels, is very pleasing. Link to comment
prevordrake 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Curves are softly grate... and if I think that this is a "car/train shot" it's a wonderfull!!! Composition is perfect considering the little time you have to do it! Congratulation!!! 7/7 Link to comment
maria conversano 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Wonderful view and magic light and colors! Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted February 25, 2005 Highly original and dangerous if you are driving and taking the shot at the same time. How can you resist not stopping the car? Simply a glorious scenery. Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted February 25, 2005 for all the comments and ratings. I wasn't driving when I took this picture (my wife was) and since it's on the hightway so it's very dangerous to just pull over and stop the car. 'Safty First' People! BTW, 70 mph is really not that fast on Highway 101. Though the speed limit is 65 but lots drivers will go over 75 easily. Link to comment
palomaramirez 0 Posted February 25, 2005 Beautiful light and harmonious colours. very good composition. Link to comment
