Foggy Dawn (for Lannie K.)

Carolina mornings have been foggy of late.

I was experimenting with a bit of texture. Does it work here?

 

Moody, mysterious, enticing! I like it.

I like this a lot, though the apparent texture (if you mean the effect of printing on textured paper) does not add a lot for me. I also wonder if it might be possible to bring up a bit of the detail in the left lower corner - it gets just a bit too close to black for my taste.

 

But a very nice image!

I'm not so sure about the texture but the colours and the subtle changes from top to bottom are superb. The whole thing is nicely anchored by the fence posts at the bottom.

Soft. Subtle. Quiet. The gradients of color are sublime....

Rise up and be happy for morning is upon us! Great image. Romantic me thinks.

I like it, Regina. The band of color going across the center pulls everything together. Quite moody, but not necessarily heavy. I also like the black in the bottom. More detail there I think would diffuse and "even out" the overall feel, which would be less effective.

Nice gradation, Regina, too bad the uploading compression appears to have messed with the tones.

I can only say that anyone who adequately captures the deep purple of either dawn or dusk deserves the Nobel Prize of Photography. I've been trying to capture that range of colors for years, and I have come close, but this is great.

 

Let's lobby for such a prize.

Let's face it, Regina: You hit this site running and didn't need a lot of encouragement. It has been interesting to watch your skills unfold the longer you have been here. I wish that I were nearly as good.

Your words are the shot in the arm I needed Lannie. Especially today as I am home feeling yucky. The flu has turned into pneumonia (sp?) and I am "wearry feewwing woozy"...if you know what I mean. Maybe it's the drugs. I am taking wedding pics on Sat. so have to get better FAST!
