Christmas Cactus Flower 1

I photographed another flower from this plant in color and decided

to explore this one in B&W. Please let me know if it works.

I have tried to photograph this plant many times, and have been stymied by the enormous contrast between the white in the petals and the red areas. I still don't have a successful shot, though am about to try again.

This is definitely a good effort, but you still have a blown highlight, which seems to be the major problem with this flower. I suspect the only way to succeed is to use multiple exposires, and crefully overlay the different versions in PS to overcome the huge range of exposure levels.

It seems to me your use of B&W here has created a somewhat confusing image, and would like to see the full color version.
