I don't remember seeing the first edition so I can only comment on this one. Perfecto dude!!! The composition, B&W tones, and blurred background are, IMHO, right on. Most interesting of course is the expression on the gentleman's face. Actually, this image gets my thinking back on track. Thanks.

An image that seems to me to be full of clear-sighted sympathy for the difficulties and struggles of old age. 6/7 from me.

Ken- I like this much better. I think it softens and accentuates at the same time. Perfect DOF and wonderful composition. He looks contemplative, I like that.

It seems to me the back eye is a little sharper than the front eye and it's drawing my eyes there. Is it just me??? I like the expression - we've all seen this look many times and I'm sure I look similar at the end of the day!

Ken, quite thought provoking. I like the blurred away background, the detail in his face, and overall composition is sound. Like Kim mentioned however, I also notice that the back eye and the sweater area on the same plane are sharper, so perhaps a bit of a back-focus issue? It doesn't really take away too much from the image though and black & white is an appropriate approach for this image, IMO.

You ought to do more portraits. Every one of them that you've done has been wonderful. I feel like I KNOW this guy. It's great!! I like how bright it is. The crop is great. His expression is classic! I love the textures in his skin and hair. And the hearing aid really adds to the feel. Great work!!

Ken, everything was said, but what cought my eye was the expression and his hearing device. He is so much engolfed in himself. The little blur in the forground does not lessen his strong expression. Well done. Pnina
