afterthoughts 0 Posted February 20, 2005 I shot this, leaning on my car door, in the middle of a busy highway with horns blowing. Hope it was worth it? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 20, 2005 you've got to be kidding me! I wish the background wasn't quite so bright, but the composition here is very nice! From the CAR!? Sheesh! I should be so lucky :) You caught this guy at precisely the right moment! Wonderful. Too bad we can't see more detail on the head... it's always something isn't it? :) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 20, 2005 This has a bizarre effect - I can almost see two heads in between the wings from the way the feathers are ruffled up. Makes it look like a two-headed bird! Link to comment
dk. 0 Posted February 20, 2005 You got him on the side of the highway? You sure he's not hitchhiking? He's looks like he's hitchhiking to me! ;o) lol I like the picture a lot! Take care. DK. Link to comment
r_e 0 Posted February 20, 2005 CR: There is no little birdie. There is a great impression reaching - or coming from - far beyond the frame. REgards Link to comment
chips2 0 Posted February 21, 2005 Howard ! Looks like the bird hiding it head from the camera. lol .. Nice & very unusual . Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted February 21, 2005 Sure worth the while. Unusual scene captured & seen from the highway. It is spreading its wings, ready for flight. Lucky you to get him at this precise moment. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted February 21, 2005 Howard- you have such tenacity! LOL. Your composition is so interesting. That branch coming from out of no where and the bird, right on the tip, with wings spread. I can see why you stopped. I too wish the head where just a little clearer. But, for me, any way, it never fails, when I need the long lens, I have the wide angle on and visa versa. If they just made that dream lens 10-450mm IS in the L series with amazing clarity and then, I think they should be able to come up with an attached, retractable monopod on the lens that is completely invisible when you don't need it! I'm not asking for much!!!! LOL Keep up the wonderful work! I note you did use your long lens..... geez he must have been really far away! Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted February 22, 2005 I'm with Jayme. Would like to see a closer up with more detail. At the same time, it does serve as somewhat of an abstract with the frame being whited out to a large extent. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted February 22, 2005 Howard, quite an original composition and a unique way to present the species. The lone, dying brance communicates extinction or endangered status to me. I do wish to see more of the birdie's facial detail though. Still, a cool capture. ^_^ Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 22, 2005 This is cool stuff. Very thoughtful compsition. Almost looks to good to be real... lol. Nice to present this species from their back as we all see lot of head shots... lol. White background is enhancing the presence of this birdie.... Kind regards. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 22, 2005 Wonderful raptor shot! :-) I love this wider-than-usual angle. The emptiness of the background and the solitude work well. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted February 23, 2005 Unusual image of bird taking-off for flight.Original composition blended with beauty.Howard, may I say your imagination is taking-off for regions of beauty and that your waiting was really worthwhile. Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted February 23, 2005 Beautiful shot. I love the composition with the branch! Who else would do that???...and risk your life, too! Link to comment
bo_plenty 0 Posted April 4, 2005 I just love the way the V of the hawk's wings is echoed by the V of the branches splitting. Of course the head sticking up would be perfect, but what can you do? At first I thought it would be better for the hawk to be facing the camera, but with that gorgeous red tail, I don't know, I thinks it's better the way it is. More original this way as well. Nice! lgreene 0 Posted April 6, 2005 This is such a unique presentation of a hawk. You have captured the attribute of a Red Tailed hawk beautifully. Link to comment
