This is a well thought composition, maybe I would have panned a wee bit to the left, not sure. I would comment on the B&W tones, because this motif lives from the many divisions and subdivisions of veins. Perhaps a tone shift to the right and an S curve would not hurt, IMO. You shot direct B&W, why ? It is nearly always the better choice to shoot color and try different B&W options afterwards. Perhaps, your camera didnt support RAW and stores 8bit/channel ? Even then it is more promising to save high quality jpeg, then convert to 16 bit/channel TIF as first step.

Thank you, Carsten. This is taken with Z1, camera without RAW option. Also, it was beginning my digital era, had not any image editor, no PC... Therefore I took almost all my photos in BW mode so that when I had access, I could transmit them here! Rather primitive? ;D

You are right about tonality. I have not earlier monitored levels of any of these older photos. Tried your suggestions and looks much more effective. perhaps I repost some day.

It is also funny, I thought this was rather original view, after I shot I found book from library. It was about macrophotography, and there it was, only in colours. After that I have seen at least dozen of this kind of views here in PN...

Thank you again. Take care, a s l a
