I found this shot in my first pick group but it didn't make my final group that I worked on. Her expression had caught my eye but I just couldn't find what I liked. After a time away from it and a fresh look, I knew where I wanted to head with it. Background has been cropped out and the high key tones strongly emphasized. Thoughts and comments welcomed!

Joe,

I'd say she does look devious in this image. I like the look of her left eye and the slight twist of her lips. I do have some issues with it however. A higher angle would be more flattering to her I believe but I don't know if it would maintain her "look." In a "classic" portrait her nose would not intersect the line of her cheek and skin would be visible on the far side of her right eye. As it is the light scheme seems to enhance the size of her right cheek which is distracting. It seems to loom. Maybe more of a profile or more of a 3/4...one way or the other? It seems to be caught in the middle.

Thanks Steve for such a detailed Critique. Excellent points. I didn't really think the cheek was an issue but it's always interesting to get well thought out perspectives.

Excellent portrait. Lots of detail capturing the personality of the bride. From my perspective, it is the non-classical approach that makes this image interesting.
