This is really a great shot. I like how the pine needles make a frame for the owl. It is amazing that you were able to spot him. I like the exposure and DOF.

I love nature shots, and this is no exception.

As Don said the pine needles provide a lovely framing effect. What I like most is how your focus is sharp where it needs to be, on the owls face, while the surrounding details are a little softer. Nicely done.
