aepelbacher 0 Posted February 12, 2005 Does this work as an abstract? As a landscape? Is there a lack of interest? Thoughts and ideas welcome!! Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted February 12, 2005 This is the ridge northwest of Lake Tahoe, right? I like it, Lou Ann, in part because it is an interesting abstract, and in part because I never met a mountain I didn't like. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 12, 2005 Thanks, Lannie - funny thing about your statement ... I must say that I've never met a mountain that I didn't like, either! :-D By the way, I don't remember which direction near Tahoe this is. Sorry! Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted February 13, 2005 Nicely done. I like the composition. Actually, I like the whole idea. Try more of these. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 13, 2005 Kind of cool, Lou Ann. Works as an abstract quite well. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 13, 2005 Howard, I hope you're kidding! :-) "Try more of these." The flight was a gift from my uncle. I don't see me having many more opportunities to fly over the Sierra Nevadas, but if I do, I'll try more of these. :-) Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted February 13, 2005 Hey! Good shot! I like the tree shadows and the way they define the shape of the land. Maybe play with levels to slightly increase the contrast and emphasise the shadows? Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted February 13, 2005 Agreeing with Colin above. The shadows really make this interesting. We have missed you 'round here Miss A. Glad to see new postings from you. Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted February 14, 2005 I think the diagonal left to right movement is your subject. . .nice variation in the center. . . it certainly works as a abstract. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 14, 2005 Interesting composition and nice abstract effect. The picture shows a delicate sense of movement. For me I think the image works well both as abstract and otherwise. How did you achieve this desired effect? Kind regards. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted February 14, 2005 I like the side lighting that shows the texture and form well, Lou Ann. ^_^ Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 14, 2005 I'm not sure what you're asking me about acheiving the desired effect ... but the situation was this: me in a small airplane over the Sierra Nevadas near Lake Tahoe ... Canon Rebel Ti and Velvia 100 with a 50mm lens. I was impressed with how low we were able to fly and clear the mountain top (I know virtually nothing about flying!) ... and with the detail that I could see in the trees immediately below us. This is one of the closeup shots I took. I am still really impressed with the detail of the trees from above. :-) Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted February 14, 2005 Lou Ann, the photo is different, but I like it. Cheers, Sondra Link to comment
curtisforrester 0 Posted February 18, 2005 I like the texture here, just needs a little more impact IMHO. Keep up the good work! Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted February 20, 2005 I love this shot, dear friend, and jump on the occasion of saying so, to wish you -very late indeed- a wonderful year 2.005. It's been a long time since I visited your images. Link to comment
