This is the ridge northwest of Lake Tahoe, right?

I like it, Lou Ann, in part because it is an interesting abstract, and in part because I never met a mountain I didn't like.

Thanks, Lannie - funny thing about your statement ... I must say that I've never met a mountain that I didn't like, either! :-D By the way, I don't remember which direction near Tahoe this is. Sorry!

Howard, I hope you're kidding! :-) "Try more of these." The flight was a gift from my uncle. I don't see me having many more opportunities to fly over the Sierra Nevadas, but if I do, I'll try more of these. :-)

Hey! Good shot! I like the tree shadows and the way they define the shape of the land. Maybe play with levels to slightly increase the contrast and emphasise the shadows?

I think the diagonal left to right movement is your subject. . .nice variation in the center. . . it certainly works as a abstract.

Interesting composition and nice abstract effect. The picture shows a delicate sense of movement. For me I think the image works well both as abstract and otherwise. How did you achieve this desired effect?

Kind regards.

I'm not sure what you're asking me about acheiving the desired effect ... but the situation was this: me in a small airplane over the Sierra Nevadas near Lake Tahoe ... Canon Rebel Ti and Velvia 100 with a 50mm lens. I was impressed with how low we were able to fly and clear the mountain top (I know virtually nothing about flying!) ... and with the detail that I could see in the trees immediately below us. This is one of the closeup shots I took. I am still really impressed with the detail of the trees from above. :-)

I love this shot, dear friend, and jump on the occasion of saying so, to wish you -very late indeed- a wonderful year 2.005. It's been a long time since I visited your images.
