B&W child eating bubbles

Great idea. Really like the concept and the fun of the photo. Is your scanner the reason the photo quality seem poor?

i've got poor scanner blues- i may try to rescan this shortly. thanks for looking. any other idea re the composition or action???

i wouldnt ask a child to eat a bubble....but since she was anyway and i assume she was actually catching them in her mouth....one popping on her lips would be THE moment, imo

There is plenty of action, but I agree that there might be a better moment. I don't like the child eating the bubble, gets me sick when I eat them, but perhaps resting on her nose. Composition: I quess the leg is a little distracting and unnecessary, so perhaps moving in, and then the composition would be determined by the bubbles.

I'm thinking very horizontal, or very vertical.

are hard to catch. i tried for a roll and mostly i got squat :) maybe i'll try again with a less active child!

child not eating bubble, bubble on child's nose, child standing on head with bubble coming out of nose, etc., obviously never photographed a 2-3-4 year old child.

Composition ideas... Somewhat wider angle, less tight cropping... give her space to romp and move. Put a bit more light on her face if possible. Get down way low to the ground yourself and photograph upwards at her. Put the bubbles between her and the camera and photograph almost straight on. Get bubbles on all sides of her not just in front; and a lot -more- bubbles. Also children rarely play in the dark at high speed... maybe try a high-key pic instead of low-key (it'll also emphasize innocence more to have a white background). Get a less ambiguous expression on her face. Basically, take a lot more with a lot more variety. It could work out quite well.
