A creative idea that is well executed as usual. I like the darkness, it adds a layer of abstraction that would be lost if it just looked like a light bulb.

I keep looking for a woman buried in there somewhere but am yet to find one.

Howard, I think if we all saw the world the same way P.N would be a very boring place. I really do like think the darkness makes the image but I do respect your opinion. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Owen, Kind as ever. This is one of these images that I really like myself. You once told me that I wasn't very good at judging the reaction my own photos would receive. It appears you are right. Oh well! Thanks anyway!

Sergei, I thought this was fairly original too. It is good to know you thought so too. Thanks a lot for looking.

Thank you all!

I know that you prefer the darker version. I however like it just a tad lighter to bring out a bit more detail and show off the nice background. ^_^

Mark, I am sorry! It is just a bulb. Maybe next time!

Wilson, Believe it or not I did play around with the levels on this picture before uploading it. After playing I decided to leave it as it was when it came out of the camera. Your take on it is more vibrant and is very good. However, the mood of the pictue is completely changed.

Thanks for taking the time though! I do appreciate it and I do like it a lot. It's just different.

A very original & creative concept. I tried to peep beyond the dark bulb to the colourful background behind.

Very nice idea. The image may be slightly dark for my taste and I preferred Wilson's version but the original is not bad either. Good composition and colors are great. May be addition of the base of the bulb in composition or a crop excluding the lower most curve altogether would have appeared a little better as per now the crop is exactly positioned on the curve which IMO is not looking very good aesthetically. Well this samll bit is just an observation and doesn't take away anything from the high aesthetic value of the picture.

Kind regards.

Both you and Wilson are people I respect. If you both like the 'brighter' version then I understand. I did try different compositions with this subject. Maybe I will upload some later.

Thanks again!

I would have to cast my vote on the darker version. I like the muted colors because they don't seem to overpower the light bulb and lets the subject stand front and center. I think this would make an excellent porfolio Photograph. It makes me rethink the stratigy of using a hammer to get a good light bulb shot.

You made a very fine easthetic image of this simple item David.

This tabletop photograph is very original. My eyes will mostly concentrate at the left side following the curve.

The form is attractive, even the collours you used. It must be a misterious City, when they using such lights.........

Donald, I am glad that you like the darker picture. Thanks for your kind comments.

Wim, This was taken in the street. I took the light bulb out for a walk one evening. I got a lot of strange looks but I feel the result was worth it. Thanks a lot.

David, when I saw the original I too thought it seemed a bit on the dark side. But then when I see the brighter version I find the saturated "bright" colours look over cheerful, and this has indeed spoilt the look and mood. So of the two versions I prefer the original. Now maybe if the second version was less saturated ...

A clever idea to take a light bulb on a walk and I like what your've produced. I'd be tempted to manipulate it to remove the single yellow line at the top, but not the other stuff. The three little dashes running round the bulbous bit give it shape.

Dominique, Thanks for taking the time to give a detailed critique. This is a personal favourite of mine and it is nice to know that someone has taken some time to look at it.

Thanks a lot.

Mark, This is one of my personal favourites. It didn't brighten too many peoples lives but I am glad that it has been seen by you.
