It is the recurrence of patterns in the sky, water, and sand that makes this image stand out from the crowd. Enough compository strength to try out a B&W, IMO. To (partially) work around the focus issue, I would try a composite with a gradient layered mask to compensate the OOF

Absolutely amazing photo Jana. This is definately a framer. I plan to go to Cuba in Sept and I hope this is what I will encounter. Great shot!

Your second best shot! The sharpened image is a huge improvement. I would probably crop the very bottom to remove the contrasty foreground and it might be nice to see the subjects centred in this case. Awesome!
