Really like what you have posted from Painted hills. This shot and several others. I've visited a few times and mostly come back with obvious shots. These are far more intriguing. That's tough there, where access is restricted to a few trails and roads. Best part is, you can go back and the hills will be different colors (or so I'm told) depending on recent rain, time of year, etc.

Great shot, Rick. The repeating hills and their colors are so abstract, but the juniper reinforces classic landscape. I really like how the composition works so well with the drab sages, greens, browns and reds. Not much in the way of "useful" comment ... it's a good image.

Very original shot of the Painted Dunes. I have some, but I forgot to take my long lens when I went there...So, I have to get back there again.

Rick, this is really a first rate shot. I tried shooting there for two days, but the weather was really gray and uncooperative. You've composed this perfectly and I like the colors, though they may be a bit oversaturated (may be just my gray memories).

Thanks for dropping by and commenting. I was here for two days as well. This was taken on the second day, where we had a little better light than the first (the clouds were thinner). I did bump the sat up just a little after adjusting the Levels in PS because I feel it gives it a little more interest, and could in fact be the colors I had if it had just rained and the sun came out afterwards. I'm going back here in the Spring to catch the wildflowers...the whole area and drive over had serious photo ops everywhere...

Rick, I just took a look at your whole series of Painted Hills shots--Wow!!! You really took a lot of terrific shots. Very impressive. I've been planning to return to the Painted Hills for a while and these are inspiring me to take a long weekend over there. Where did you stay (or did you camp)? I think I stayed in Prineville, which is a little drive.

I stayed in Prineville as well at the best western. I went with a group from a local photography forum, of about 8 guys, including my brother Erik.
