nicest looking drainage ditch I've ever seen :) I like what you've done with this. The color is really nice, and you've turned a usually uninteresting object into an asset. I keep thinking there might be slightly too much foreground, but I don't know if I'd crop it or not.

Howard, I love what you are doing with snow pictures - a little unusual with sepia effect, but it works. I like the strong foreground and don't think you should change a thing with this one. Nice series!

what great versatility you have! i like this one the best of the three showing up on your portfolio page, just in terms of composition and tones (the variations in the snow are very enjoyable), which i like very much. and there's something soothing about it. my one suggestion is to run it through neat image or something equivalent -- my impression of it is that the snow should be very smooth and i think (with these old eyes) that its a little pixelated.

I like the toning and detail here. Compositionally, I don't think you're as happy with this as you are with, "The Post," but then I'm not sure how to make this better neither. Still, I like it. ^_^

I have to agree with the above comments....I love the sepia, the strong foreground, and the sharp texture. Nice treatment!

PS...Couldn't you give it a sexier title? LOL

I probably like this because it doesn't look like it looks outside. I'm a bit overtired of the winter already. Looks a bit like high-key white out without actually doing it :)

This is an evocative image with very painter-ish qualities with broad almost air-brush like strokes and yet it retains an almost minimalist feel. Interesting tonality and it is quite pleasing as it hits the eye. Wondered if you tried this in a Blue tint too? Another reaction I had to this image was regarding the scale portrayed. If you'd said this was the entrance to the "Splendiferous" coal mine I would have gone along with that as presented too.

Love all the textures here. I'm surprised no one has compared this to the hobbits' homes in Tolkien's stories. Looks cozy to me, perhaps there's a kettle on in there somewhere.
