Nice photo. Good colors and well framed. The only issue that I noted is the limited depth of field. My experience has been that the aperture probably needs to be f11 minimum, easier said than done if there is not bright light.

 

I don't have an insect guide on my desk but with all due respect, your yellow jacket looks like one of the many species of hover flies. Reference image below.

I did a bit of research on the web after reading your comment. You are right, it's not a Yellowjacket but I think it's too big for a Hover Fly.
The Wood Rose is approx 3" across, so this guy was about 1" (2.54 cm) end to end, my research on the web found that they are 3/8"-5/8" (1-1.5 cm).
It looks like a Hover Fly though if it is one, it's a giant!
