Hello, David. I'm rather new to this site, but have been intrigued by your photos and all of the response that they receive. Knicki would probably pick up on this little detail: it looks as if you were pushing the putter kind of hard into this poor woman's stomach, as evidenced by the putter crease mark to the left of the club. Other than that, and that I'd like to see a stronger shadow to help unify all the different parts, I find it quite creative and very fitting with your theme.

Doreen, You are correct. Knicki will not let me away with anything. This was just a fun image. I don't think it will spark any controversy. I have a few in the bank that will.

I moved the putter to get it a little more in the frame. When I moved it I did notice the mark that it had left. I could have waited for the mark to disappear but the model was not in the most comfortable of positions and I feared that if she moved she would not have gone back into position.

Thanks for the comment. You have some very nice images in your portfolio. I will be sure to stop by!

As an amateur golfer (20 handicap!) I find this to be a good tale. I'll offer this as a previsualisation of a putt. Another good thing. I'll remember this when on the green and hopefully i will be able to sink more putts. (I'll be more relaxed, of course). Pardon my english...today was a tough day. ;-)

David, you certainly design a tough course, putting the rough so close to the hole. It's probably a good idea that you didn't include the pin in the photo; then you would indeed have had another controversial shot. Of course, there's something to be said for that. You are becoming increasinly more eccentric in an only slightly perverse way that I cannot help but admire. You grow steadily in my estimation. You never did check out my breast shot; I would welcome feedback from a master.

David....You never cease to amaze me. This is a riot. I guess "Hole in One" would have been too obvious a title. Kudos to your models for putting up with your ideas. Although there's a slight indentation from the putter, the fact that there is NO evidence of pressure from the foot didn't escape me. Overall, I think you executed this shot well (the photo, not the putt). A few minor nit piks....The ball might be a tad overexposed. I've never played golf before. Is that really a golf shoe? I might have included just a little more "rough". Again, these are minor. As I've said before, despite your nearly impeccable technique, your message supersedes any minor technical quibble. Who else would have thought to substitute a belly button for a tee?

I could be wrong on this but the ball appears to be one of the lighter plastic hollow sorts used for practice vs the hard solid ones used for golfing. Like I said, I could be wrong- just I recall actual golf balls being a tad bit shinier/reflective but I havent shot one so really cant say how they would come off.

I did notice the line and find the idea that great that the line is acceptable. I'd like to see more shoe before I comment on it being actual golf attire.

overall, I find this one of those moments where I am envious. I like the shadow and knowing me would lean heavier on that, bringing it out more.

If I may reply in general first and then deal with any specific points.

First of all, this was a very disappointing shot for me. When I thought about taking it I had a host of ideas. The golfer's trousers were in view. Both shoes where in the frame. The belly button was in the frame and more of the 'rough' was in the frame. This was impossible because everything looked too congested. I needed to give the feeling of space. I would have needed a model 6 feet wide with a flat stomach. This shot was the compromise.

I wanted the playing surface to be all model. This is why it is composed like this. The lighting was also strange. I could have made it more uniform but then it didn't look like we were outside on a golf course. I felt the natural light looked better.

Angel, I am not entirely sure how thinking of my photo will help you improve your handicap. However, if thinking about this helps you turn pro, remember to send me a few $$$.

Mark, Your comment made me laugh very much. I particularly liked your reference to the pin. That would be an interesting shot. I have to be honest and say I didn't really think much about golf courses when taking this. It was just taken for fun. However your carefully thought out comment is very much appreciated.

Jethro, Make me an offer for membership!

Laurie, I am not sure about the indentation from the putter. There is a crease from where the putter was placed originally but I do not see an indentation from where the putter is at the moment. The ball probably is over exposed. (Part of it anyway!) I haven't played golf either (although I live close to St Andrews) and so this is not a real golf shoe. Just as well really as golf shoes have spikes in them! Ouch!

Knicki, I hate to tell you this but you are wrong. It is a real golf ball! I am flattered that you are envious.

Owl, Interesting comment...... reminds me of the joke about the queer Scotsman.... he preferred women to golf!

Sandy, My handicap is some people don't understand me.

David, I hadn't even thought about the spiked shoes! I'm glad you didn't go for them!

I'm not a golfer, but if I remember correctly golf shoes have spikes (and pointed ones at that, not like cleats on baseball shoes). So then, if this were a real golf shoe, we might expect to see some blood trickling from underneath it; this once again would bring David into the area of controversial shots. And while he has presented some intriguing views in the past, I do not remember him voyaging into the fetish world (at least for public view). Humor is the animating feature here, so let's not go overboard on equipment verisimilitude becuase then we'd have to talk about the course itself and get into the areas of lies and woods, to say nothing of that old favorite, the water trap. Of course, this could be miniature golf!

..yeah the thought of me sinkin a ball (a golf ball)...you know, part of a good golf technique is about having happy thoughts whenever you need to play better...

Another triumph of the imagination. I actually like the idea of shooting from a higher vantage point and even considering the whole body. This is just a thought and I will defer to your creativity regarding the suggestion. 5/6

-Cheers

I may try what you suggest another time. I think what you suggest would work if it was taken outdoors.

As for my imagination. I will keep trying.

Laurie, Angel and Mark, Thanks for the revisit.

Whoa!!! Levi - u will get brownie points for that - bcos u 'understand' what David is on about. I 'understand' you! I just don't always tell you what you want to hear - I dont need or want the brownie points though. To be a good communicator whether it be through aural or visual - you have to learn how to 'listen'. As you've gotten older David - you should have discovered finally how it works - or aren't you listening??

I mean no offense but....I find you scary in a Stephen King kind of way.

Firstly

Owen - Thank You for the response.

Laurie - No offence taken (by the way I have read a few Stephen King novels) - but I had never quite thought of myself in that vein - the scary thing is that someone else might have. Believe you me that is not part of my nature at all - but I do speak my mind at times - I dont tell someone what they want to hear for the sake of saying it - that is an offence. I don't judge a book by it's cover and I dont just look at a picture or a painting without wanting to look beyond or behind the view. Of that I am guilty. I don't like pompous, arrogant, conceited know-it-alls either. I am guilty of that!!! My opinion is purely that, and i do apologise if it has been taken out of context. A picture/painting can make me laugh, ponder or cry. Guilty!!! David has a wicked sense of humour, I 'understand' and appreciate that. There are two virtues that should never go astray - Humility and Honesty.
