I think I got the idea out of a Scott Kelby book. Basically, what you do is to open a Channel Mixer Adjustment Layer in PS. Set the Red channel to 200%. Set the Green to about -30% and the Blue to about -70%. (Total should be 100%) This gives you the dramatic contrast and "Ansel Adams" skies.

it looks like a mix of Ansel Adams and Paul Strand's technique.

We always learn, the sky are realy very dramatic and beautiful, and I will try that technique as well. Good composition in B/W.

Thanks for your comment, Please look again now. I hope it will look better to you.If you are interested please look at the presentation as well. Pnina

I read about that technique in Scott's book as well. I think you put it to good use here. Farm structures are a classic subject for black & white photography. I like the geometry of this one.

Hi, this photo stays on my mind since three days, composition is very interesting because the house is not really in the middle, the v--thing on the middle of the roof(sorry for my English) seems longer because of the shadows, but the white cloud on the left pulls everything in balance . i like this work i will quick look for the other onces

kind regards, An

after becoming aware of your work through a nice comment you left ... i immediately went to your portfolio. loads of wonderful shots, but i found your b & w work to be the most compelling. indeed the Anselizer works well...but i'll give the most credit to the photographer! good to meet you and look forward to return visits too your portfolio!

In this shot I mostly like the different heights of the missing boards, that is what makes the shot. The bright light, strong contract and dark skies are the icing on the shot.
