I don't know what I like best about this shot. I like the cloud moving gently through the valley and the sun shining on the side of the mountain leading you on a path to a lake. The muted tones give me a sense of height or rarified air and I want to gasp for breath. I like the dark passageway on the right bottom as it kind of makes me think you have found the home of some gnome. Last but not least is the framing you used to surround the image helps to draw you in and makes it look like a window in a wall that I could stick my head out and take a good whiff of mountain air.

Thank you Igor and Cherlyn. Don thank you very much for your thoughtful and generous response. It is very gratifying to hear such a response. I think too that as the critic you are developing and enriching your own sensibility when you take time to articulate and frame your responses. Anyway thanks Don...

Beautiful colour especially in the valley and the shoulder of the mountain in the foreground. The cloud adds to the 3d sense.

One of the best landscapes I have seen for a while, nothing to improve but perhaps a bit sharpening (I am sure there is good detail in the original. My observation is that after downsizing unsharp masking is necessary on PN)

My thanks to Hector, Manel, Colin, Gaetan and Carsten for your most generous comments. Carsten I especially thank you for your helpful suggestion. The USM really did reveal much more detail. The sky got much better. I value all of your comments...

Mujahid your image needs no suggestion from me. It is outstanding as is...My point was rather the fairness of reposting your image after already having been on the Top Rated Page earlier. You may see that I have changed my rating to reflect my actual assessment --7/6

I like the way the light makes the caldera alive, with light rather than with an eruption. Interesting enough, the dominantly warm tones in the centre of the shot become cold when moving to the top left, where the highest structure attracts the eye.

I second the suggestion of applying some moderate sharpening to the image to fully pull out the potential of the rock formations.

Salvatore, my warm regards and thanks for your comment. I am aware of your strong work in landscapes of your commentary and insights on others' works, both of which I respect...
