rockman 0 Posted January 20, 2005 I think this is a great shot but it would have been nice in colour.I am of course Assuming there was a nice deep blue sky and the fields were golden and.........! no no I think B+W is probably best!. Link to comment
blago 0 Posted January 20, 2005 The only thing that bothers me here is the post to the right. What about cropping it out? But it's not important, of course. Beautiful photo, Henri, conveying the feelings of liberating, freshness, and easiness. As if the farm is floating on the crest of a giant wave but the birds are frozen in the sky. A relief for our senses worn out in daily fighting against urban ugliness. Regards. Blago Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted January 20, 2005 Thank you for your ratings and comments. Andrew, yes the sky was blue but the field was'nt golden. I have posted a colour version here , but with another sky and no bird. Thanks for your attached image. It is nice. Blagoy, on the colour version (link above) I have cropped out the post, so I have prefered to let it in this one. It does'nt bothers me very much. Link to comment
robidooo 0 Posted January 20, 2005 I think that the post is a little distracting as it is right now. But I think it is an important element to this photo. I would like to see more of the line however. Kind of the only thing that connect this location to the rest of the world. It feels like a "soon to die" place as the birds are quitting, leaving the house alone in this big field. It will be a hard winter, this is what comes to my mind when looking at this photo. seven 0 Posted January 20, 2005 Agree there's a sense of impending desolation, a feeling of starkness; that might have been intensified by the presence of clouds (which could have compromised fg exposure.) I like the contours and the vertical comp - but would prefer to see a version where the starlings are dropped in a bit further to the left so the leading birds are just above the chimney; this would make for a better horizontal balance to my eye, elements not bunching towards centre of frame.Nice work.
