jerry ting 1 Posted January 17, 2005 Welcome back. That's half dome on the background and I was taking it from Yosemite village, Yosemite National Park. Those colors on the water is the effect of the color burst filter (not PS effect). 3 filters were stacked up (PL + FLD + Color Burst) to get a shot like this. Link to comment

christiankiely 0 Posted January 18, 2005 Jerry, To each his/her own, so I am not adding a rating, but these colors look garrish to me and detract from the image. I think I'd also like to see the grad higher up so that there's some detail in the trees. Link to comment
manel_soria 0 Posted January 18, 2005 Can you please explain what are a color burst filter and a FLD filter ? As you see, landscape is not my topic. Thanks. Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted January 18, 2005 Christian, thanks for the comments. This photo is kind of an experimentation for me. Not quite of my style but I think it's fun to try it. Attached is another shot without the color burst filter. Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted January 18, 2005 Manel, FLD is a multi-coated glass filter for correcting flourescent light but some people also use it for sunset/sunrise scenic shots to enhance the warm colors. I could not find an appropriate definition for the color burst filter but basically this filter let colors burst from the landscape by filtering the light reaching your camera. A color-compensating filter doesn't tint the photograph, but rather, amplifies the colors already present. Link to comment
manel_soria 0 Posted January 18, 2005 Thanks, I never heard of it. This summer I'll try to a bit deeper (I'm at level 0 now ;) into landscape photography but my idea is to do it taking different digital pictures and blending them. Link to comment
