robertbrown 1 Posted January 15, 2005 Comments, ratings appreciated on toned landscape--when I shot this I was thinking dinosaurs, but I don't know . . . Link to comment
mario_sadio 0 Posted January 15, 2005 Very nice image, but lets talk pixels: I think this could be made better with a less apparent hallo on the stones. I had to strugle a lot with these kinds of images and I found out some techniques to make a nicer contrast control: a) Just use a broader hallo - I like manipulated photos but I really think bigger hallos are less "offending". b) Cut the stones from the sky into a layer and then make the sky bigger - this makes the hallo disapear almost completely. c) Try "contrast" masking with a fair amount of gaussian blur on the mask. Sorry to be so picky but you really have a very nice image here that I think deserves adequate treatment. Sorry if I'm bothering with the obvious. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 15, 2005 Wonderful shot with a nice touch of humour. Niggles : I find the light fringe around the dinosaurs detract somewhat as does the bright bit of cloud between the two left characters. But 6/6 Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted January 19, 2005 Mario and Colin, you both are right about the poor PS work. This isn't a composite: rather, it was just some quick selection and levels adjustment of the foreground. I'll try working on this and posting a better version. Thanks for your comments. P.S. Mario, don't worry about being critical. I post work on this site for honest critique, not just mindless praise. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Link to comment
