ArthurRichardson 2 Posted January 12, 2005 Hi, I wonder what you good people think of this picture. Of course I value you comments highly. Regards Arthur Richardson Link to comment
elaine_roberts1 0 Posted January 12, 2005 This looks like it was _almost_ a terrific shot--did you take any shots just as the balloon was between you and the sun? This would have eliminated the lens flare and gotten rid of the burned out sun, which distracts from the balloon. I do like the sense of calmness you've captured. I've always wanted go balooning. ArthurRichardson 2 Posted January 14, 2005 Hi Elaine, thanks for the comment. You really should go ballooning one day, it is a truly magnificent experience. I tried to photoshop the flare away, but while doing so I discovered that the object you describe as flare is perfectly rounded, therefore it might be the moon, because I didn't see any diaphragm based cornering. elaine_roberts1 0 Posted January 14, 2005 I think perhaps it might be a droplet of water that was on the lens, that would explain why its round. Link to comment
tom_boston1 0 Posted September 14, 2013 It's an internal reflection. Anti-reflection coatings are designed to reduce things like this but sometimes when the source of light is too bright you still "ghosts" of this nature. This kind of thing is much more identifiable if you are shooting things with multiple bright spots, like a birthday cake, because the multiple reflections keep the same relative position towards each other. It really would have been a splendid photograph if you could have caught the balloon occulting the sun. The overall contrast of the scene would have been much higher and the balloon likely would have had a very nice Link to comment
