Shooting yourself through a mirror is perhaps the oldest and most boring trick in the book of a portrait photographer (another one is to give a camera to a model and use no mirrors...) but here, for some reason, it works... a very natural, relaxed this-is-me-and-that's-it kind of an athmosphere in this image.

Ciao! A very nice picture of Ghiga and her Canon 300D! Also a very nice portrait with her biography. I like the way you have given this shot a sense of depth and distance using the things in the foreground. (Digital cameras are great for playing around and trying out different things, aren't they!) regards - Colin

Thank You, Colin! Yes, it is true, the digital camera gives more and more creativity and freedom to think and to realize the shot. I like it very much!

I really like the way you've managed to minimize and soften the camera in the photo with foreground objects, and by leaning so casually onto it. Lovely model, too!

Ghiga, if you consider this shot merely passable ... hmm ... perhaps you should just take our word for it. My Spanish is OK, though not my Italian, but - La sua propria bellezza è spesso dura da vedere, no?

Hey, Don! You make me turn red... ;-)

CIAO!

P.S. Your italian is perfect!

P.P.S. The word passable was in reality related to the tecnical aspect of the shot, becose all the other was a disaster! In one my face was completely out of field; in another my nose was at the level of the plane of the shelf; in another I had a terrible expression, etc. etc. etc. :-D

I have to comment on this image. Although as someone says, photographing oneself in a mirror is one of the oldest self-portrait tricks there is, there is something special about this one, and in my opinion, it has nothing to do with technique, composition, and/or lighting.

What makes this image intriguing for me is...you. Love the hair, the glasses, and the eyes behind the glasses. Also the somewhat questioning look on your face. I would love to see a black and white version of this image (hint, hint).

If you were anywhere near here, I would definitely want to photograph you.

Thanks, Jim. I'm a little disconcerted for the success of this shot. Normally I'm not too photogenic, and for me this is a "medium" photo.

Maybe You see in it something of me that I don't see...

Ciao to all!

Unusual, spontaneous. Maybe you look a little tired after shooting so many photos. The leaning head and the frame around the mirror do the trick. :-)
