jerry ting 1 Posted January 8, 2005 Thanks for your comments and ratings. Shoebill is indeed a unique creature that is not aware by most people. I was lucky to see one at San Diego Wild Animal Park. Here is some information about shoebill that I digest from African Bird Club website (http://www.africanbirdclub.org/feature/shoefull.html). "Long in the leg and broad in the wing, standing well over a metre high and dressed entirely in dull, scaly grey, the Shoebill is dominated by its feeding apparatus, a huge and powerful appendage ending in a ferocious nail-like hook. Violent and primitive in appearance, the bird has caused taxonomists constant vexation and bafflement over its affinities..." Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted January 9, 2005 Thought SARS was back from the thumb...whew...what a unique bird Jerry. Someone up there got a sense of humour. As for the shot itself, well thats terrific. Can't find a fault anywhere...so 7/7 Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted January 10, 2005 Well, I'll never forget this guy, now. Also, I may have a nightmare or two of him! Listen - my captures are nowhere near the caliber of yours, but if you see any in my portfolio that you would like a print of? I'd happily mail you one in trade for a print of this guy?
