sgosser 0 Posted January 5, 2005 Just got my first macro lens. The depth of field is certainly rather small on this shot. As I'm finding out, trying to focus super close and still get a large depth of field is challenging. I believe the aperture here was f8. This is my bearded dragon lizard. Any comments appreciated. andrey1 0 Posted January 5, 2005 IMO, shallow depth of field is fine here since it concentrates viewer's attention on the eye - it's an original thing for animal photography and works for this shot particularly well. DOF here still shows texture of the dragon's skin, which is a nice balance (between shallowness and deepness field). And it's amazing that you can take a closeup like this with only 60mm!
