The textures of the sand dunes were a bit different.... after rain storm. The sands were firmer... so it was easier to walk on. Taken on New Year Morning!

Brad,

Excellent image... love it. I was all set to go to DV last weekend, but the NPS morning reports published each day looked progressively worse due to floods, etc, so I went to Joshua Tree and Anza Borrego instead.

How was it? There's always this weekend :)

Thanks for visiting Christian...! The weather information from my web source was not good.... but I was free only from New Year Eve to New Year Day.... and my choice was DV. When I departed in the evening, driving was not easy due to showers and gusty winds... but approaching Panamint Valley, I began to see stars in the sky.

New Year Morning at Emigrant Camp and at Mesquite Flat turned out to be the most beautiful morning I've ever experienced in DV. Air was crisp clean and comfortably cool... surrounding mountain ranges capped with fresh snow were simply picturesque.

It was a pity that I was able to stay there only less than a day this time.

How was your trip to Joshua Tree NP and Anza Borrego? Where are the vintage points for your picture-making there?

Anza Borrego: the latest wildflower photos were taken at the mouth of Coyote Canyon, and the sunsets & badlands from Font's Point.

J-Tree: mostly Wall St. Mill & Barker Dam.

Christian,

Thank you for the information!

I'll keep those places in my mind for my next trip there...
