This image is really beautiful, and in an approachable way. The pose, the expression, the lighting, all work together to create a genuine beauty. I say genuine because this looks like a real, not manufactured, woman. Like it could be my own wife, or someone I know.

Thank you Tim. And yes, very genuine...the model was actually longingly awaiting her fiance from a business trip. I succeeded in capturing a few other moments in front of that (sunlight burning trough)window with equal success. Happily I photographed the couple the next day...a Sunday if I recall correctly.

I really like your work. This, too. I have a tiny suggestion: Try casting a bright light on her from your directiona against the window light and balancing it that way. You can avoid the burn on the sheets. But I also try for the effect you're getting on her face, where she seems to dissolve into the window light.

The stillness and longing thoughts of the model could be depicted, as you point out Arthur, by her face dissolving into the window and light. Thank you for your kind comment.

For some reason, I thought I had previously commented on this image. I see that I hadn't...but I will now.

I can only say that this is one of those photographs that I wish I had taken. The lady is perfect (love her hair), exactly the type of person I love to photograph. Her look, her posture, and her surroundings are so natural, I feel as though I had just stepped through the door and she is looking up at me. Simply marvelous.

Thank you, very kind....I'm so happy about the small detail of the ring.

Later in 2003 I was asked by this model and her finace to photograph their wedding ceremony and wedding party...I was very honoured and was granted artistic freedom (...and was very relieved afterward that all the pictures were successful).
