cherlyn 1 Posted January 2, 2005 Such innocent & sweet smile captured. Lively eyes captured too. Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Is this also Spanky, Ken? He has the same sparkle eyes and lovely smile. Nice portrait and only in B&W I think? Best Regards, Ada. Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted January 7, 2005 Yes, Ada. The same little character. This was shot in B&W and not converted. Not very original, but this is what the parents wanted. Thanks, as always, for your comments Link to comment
bens 0 Posted January 10, 2005 really nice expression, great isolation of the subject, upward tilt helps the eyes to really stand out, red filter look in b+w conversion (?) a good choice for kids. like it a lot. Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted January 10, 2005 No, no conversion. It was taken with Portra B&W film. Tweaked in red channel Link to comment
bens 0 Posted January 10, 2005 those channels are great, aren't they? i also recently used the lightness channel in lab color for something; it was similar to red channel, but had a little broader range of tones. copied it and pasted it as a layer into a photo. check it out sometime. ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted January 10, 2005 Thanks, I will. After selecting and adjusting the curves a bit, I, sometimes will tweak slightly in monochrome channel mixer Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted February 1, 2005 Ken, very sweet child image, why "shorty" ? I like it in b/w. Pnina Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted February 1, 2005 Thanks. Just a nickname his parents have given him at 16 months old Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted February 4, 2005 What a nice, bright outlook on life, Ken. I was thinking at first that this was done with the D100, but I see that it is with the F100. Since my film work is consistently better than my digital work (although rarely posted here), can I ask you what you do for scanning? I just can't seem to get clean scans like this. Link to comment
