Is the photograph appealing?

there's a cool mystery to it, but that's it's downfall--ie, there's **too** much mystery to the point where I really don't know what I'm looking at. But you're defintely on the right track.

Cropping: you could lose that tree branch sticking out at the bottom...

I can understand what you mean. I lived across the place for two years and I would see the place in sunshine and shrouded by mist.

 

I took the photograph only to see whether the mist would be faithfully reproduced.

 

As for the cropping some of my friends suggested I do not crop so I put it up as it is.

IMHO, This picture is mysterious but lacking in detail that would make it excellant.

This photo is definitly hampered by the object pertruding at the bottom. Crop that out. Aesthetically it suffers from that. This is why I gave it a below average aesthetic rating.

I have cropped out the offending object!

contrast...contrast..contrast..thats what it needs
