Guest Guest Posted December 29, 2004 Magic light and electric atmosphere. I think a little adjustment in the highlights shadows and midtones will bring more detail in the left half of the picture. As it is the picture looks great ..7/6. Best regards, happy new year and season's greetings. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted December 29, 2004 Beautifully exposed! Love the lighting on the crosses and then the moon, really nicely composed. Super job! Finally thawing out here! A lot less scary! LOL Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted December 29, 2004 Ken, well exposed (very satisfying shadow detail,) and I find the blue & gold color combo very pleasing. Only wish the moon was not that close to the edge, but that's a nitpick. Great detail all over. I like it. ^_^ Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted December 29, 2004 Perfect DOF, detail, lighting, and color. The moon adds that special touch. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 29, 2004 I echo all the nice things above. Very fine shot! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 29, 2004 Great night shot, Ken. I like the moon in the shot - it's color balances the white of the crosses on the left side of the picture. Nice detail and lighting. Link to comment
bekster 0 Posted December 30, 2004 Nicely balanced composition, the crosses standing out against the dark sky, the interior light coming throught the stained glass windows and the moon... really a beautiful image! Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted December 30, 2004 Beautiful work overall, Ken, but especially with regard to the lighting--and definitely worth viewing on large. Link to comment
francis_cailles 0 Posted December 31, 2004 incredibly beautiful shot, Ken. The lighting and the detail on the buildings are spectacular, and the composition is very well balanced. The inclusion of the moon is the exclamation point to this masterpiece of yours. Bravo. Link to comment
francis_cailles 0 Posted December 31, 2004 hhhmmm..Indiana...I thought for sure this was in Europe...Belgium or something...again, great shot, here, Ken. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted December 31, 2004 I'll second that last remark by Francis. I like Indiana, but I never saw anything like this in Indiana before. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted December 31, 2004 I like the photo. Very nice lighting. I agree to Wilson, the moon should be moved more to the left. Some more thoughts to the moon, just for my technical interests: - With f=29mm, the size of the moon will be about 0,26mm on the film/chip (rule of thumb: focal length / 111). In case of the 20D it will be approx. 0,26mm / 22,5mm * 3504 px = 40 px for original photo and 7 px for the photo with about 590 px in width. In this photo the moon is approx. 25 px in diameter, so I assume you shot the moon with 100mm focal length. - The full moon is normally exposured by the rule "moony eleven", which means 1/ISO f11. In case of your settings ISO 800, f5.6, 1/1s the moon will be overexposed by 12 EV. I assume you shot the moon e.g. with ISO 800, f8, 1/1000s. Thanks for more technical details!
