I can understand why you don't want ratings - nothing more frustrating than having a shot you think is really special and it getting low-rated. I usually end up pulling those ones off, which I probably shouldn't do. Seems like whenever I first post an image, there are some unrecognized names coming in quickly to low-rate. I try not to look at the ratings until my postings have been up for a few days and sometimes even not at all. Anyway, I stuck true to my word and gave this a 7/6.

High Howard High!! What Kim describes about the low raters, is exactly what happens to me too...and to you as well....

That is very beautiful, full with softness and emotion, done in your usual high stantard.7/7 for me .( what is the difference between the 2 versions?) Pnina

Will look great anywhere, especially on that family's living room wall. I like the fact that the highlight details are nicely retained, and yet contrasty at the same time. Very nice drawing-like effect, Howard. ^_^

I like this one alot; it captures a very common and enjoyable moment and the high key really sets off the textures, including that sweater and the complex patterns around the woman's belt and the child's shoes. I keep debating whether I like the slight cut-off of the top of the head or not - I think it may draw a bit too much attention, though it's nice the way they really fill the frame.

I am really enjoying the highkey images you are presenting. I am typically take the top off the head type of gal and immediately liked it that way but Sam does bring up a good point. I wonder if the top of head was allowed to stay as well as some room to mimic the left side of them if it wouldnt be instantly stronger.

I wish I had a shot of me and my son like this.

I like this one a lot better than the other image of the same subjects. It looks less candid, yet she is still looking into the camera ... this time her eye contact really works! And there's never anything so beautiful as a sleeping child!!

Allow me to add another perfect rating given by an awestruck, humble admirer. Technically fabulous, and emotionally powerful. Hits like a quick shot of whiskey.

A picture giving trust, a fitting accompaniment for the step into the next year. Howard, a point of reference at PN, may your power last in 2005. Best wishes, RE

A beautiful shot - those kids can sleep through anything - and wonderfully touching. Very nice work. Have a great and happy New Year, Howard.

Another awe-struck admirer. The absolute "picture perfect" moment. Excuse my trivializing your image, but I don't know how you could have presented it or captured it any better? I may have to come out to Pennsylvania to watch the "master" at work, I have a lot to learn!
