wcroninger 0 Posted December 24, 2004 Alec, superb portrait. I'd rate this better than the 6s you are amassing. The pose, choice of colors, detail in the white and overall impact makes it one of the more striking portraits that have appeared on photo.net. Congratulations Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted December 24, 2004 Thanks for viewing guys. William, the lighting was quite weak here and since I didn't use flash I have to mount it on a tripod and use the infra-red Nikon remote switch to trigger this image. BTW, she's a doll to work with. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 24, 2004 Alec,I think a flash here might have washed out the white in her gown and created some hot spots. I think you did right by going without the flash. Beautiful colors. She is a doll. (BTW, Merry Christmas) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 24, 2004 The spots on the dress are a little distracting, but it's a minor nit and just part of the dress design. I like the shadow on the door and the beautiful colors and tones you have achieved here. Happy Holidays to you and yours! Link to comment

LenMarriott 9 Posted December 24, 2004 Alec, Of the two similar offerings currently posted (other, blue dress) I prefer this one. Classic 'S' curve of the body, super detail throughout, & her expression combine to produce a winner. I agree that flash would likely have done more harm than good (would be a very fine balancing act & an unnecessary risk as she has beautiful catchlights in her eyes as it is). A reward for your efforts like this is likely to keep the spark alive in you to keep shooting. Enjoy! Best, LM. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted December 24, 2004 As if the figure were not imposing enough, Alec, that reflection on that metallic paint gives a very interesting effect. Very good work. Link to comment
olli.pekonen 0 Posted December 25, 2004 I find it very interesting that the image contains very hard shadows that are a nono in classic portraiture, but here the shadow works like a silhouette, adding greatly to the image's lure. Link to comment
johncrosley 0 Posted December 26, 2004 I spend a lot of time thinking (and occasionally more now writing) about composition. One subject is the use of compositional devices that aid the photographer and help create interesting photographs; their presence almost universally aids the photographer in helping create an interesting photograph. I see you have used one such device. The 'S' curve (with a twist). ;~)) Well done. John (Crosley) Link to comment
