Hector,

First, thanks for your nice comments on many of my pictures.

Second, I like this picture very much and the only thing I would try to do differently here is I would use some fill flash to compress dynamic range. You know how fickle those digital highlights are. The same would have applied to slide film too, even print film. In order to illustrate what I am talking about, here is a sample shot I took of a Rufous here in Erie, PA (a very rare occasion). I used Kodak Portra 400UC and fill flash at -1.0 compensation. I use an Elan 7NE.

Third, I have to admit that you have one of the most impressive bird portfolios on this website and my comment is just another idea: you shoot well enough already.

I love your photography, the way you capture the humming birds make them look so beautiful, they have a jewel like quality to them. To me the saturation, hue and contrast are perfect. I come back from time to time to study them for their technique. Thank you for sharing your vision on PN

Another extraordinary hummingbird amongst your many other excellent pictures. I wonder the degree to which the background is photoshopped -- if you've played around with it already, perhaps one could soften the blues in the left side corners and bring them more into balance with the muted greens, purples, yellows and blacks that fill up the rest of the frame. Or, if this is the original background, and you don't want to tinker with it, then by all means leave it alone. It's a great image in any event.
