alberto.conde 0 Posted December 20, 2004 Once again I submit a photo of the castle of Loarre. This one wastaken with a Cosina 19-35mm lens, of which performance i am gettingmore and more frustrated...In any case, the dominance of the plainsbelow by this magnificent romanesque castle is well shown in the image(IMHO...)What do you think? leonardo.mendes 0 Posted December 20, 2004 Have you tried a warming filter? Great shot, amazing place, and fantastic sky. Link to comment
gbernabe 0 Posted December 20, 2004 Make the horizon more horizontal by rotating the image clockwise a bit and crop out the bottom third to eliminate the shrub on the bottom right corner. That would make this picture an awesome panorama in my opinion. Link to comment
guillelobera 0 Posted December 20, 2004 Pues mira a mi me gusta. Aqui el color creo que es muy autentico y representativo: frio como el mismo invierno. Link to comment
nino1 0 Posted December 20, 2004 esta tambien me gusta, aunque prefiero la otra, porqu蠥s mೠ"concenrtada" en el castillo; en esta la nubes buscan la escena al castillo. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 20, 2004 Seems a little blurry, is this the complaint you have about the lens? Regardless, I think it is difficult to capture landscapes of ruins and create an interesting image, but you done it very well here. Nice photo. Link to comment
carlos_castillejos 0 Posted December 20, 2004 Muy buena como siempre, pero al igual que a Antonio me gusta mas la anterior por la concentracion en el castillo. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted December 20, 2004 On the lens: The somewhat slight blurriness of the scene is exactly the complaint about the lens. It does happen at maximum aperture (here it was 19mm). On top of that there is that "fishy eyed" effect on the horizon. As some of you know, I use a bubble level fitted in the hotshoe of my camera (I am quite paranoic about the horizontals being horizontal. if you check the verticals of the castle you'll agree with me they are quite vertical)On warming filter: I do have and use regularly a warming polarizer. Not here. I did use a slim polarizer but not a warming one. The light was a cold early morning light of a chilly November day (2 minus)On cropping I would not argue with any of you. That's a matter of individual opinion and I do listen with much attention to your different views. Thanks a lot! Link to comment
mari_mar 0 Posted December 22, 2004 Los colores bellos y la composicion excelente, textura del terreno y nubes besando el horizonte. Felicidades! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 23, 2004 Alberto, a fine sky above a magnificent landscape. I find it frustrating when one's lenses do not do justice to the shot. In case you are thinking of changing the Cosina here is a site (you may already be aware of it) which I find useful for a rough idea of lens quality. Navigate to lens tests. http://www.photozone.de/bindex2.html I have a Sigma 12-24 (on a Canon 300D that is 20-40) but I am not happy with the performance of that lens. It always requires stopping down to get a reasoanble result but is acceptable at f8 on a tripod. - regards and seasons greetings to you - Colin Link to comment

carsten_ranke 0 Posted December 30, 2004 Another masterly composed landscape from you. I think you placed the horizon in the center intentionally to emphasize the vastness of the wide plains. First I thought about cropping at the bottom, but now I think you are right not to sacrifice anything there. Centered horizon is right here, but what about a square format ? 19 mm is very wide, but here I would like a WIDE field of view also in the vertical direction - because of the great sky. You could make two landscape shots and stitch them vertically for a square format shot - just an idea. Regards, Carsten Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted January 1, 2005 Great idea yours. I should think about it and try! Seeing how masterly you stitch some images one has the temptation to learn to do it!Happy New Year! Link to comment
