alecee 0 Posted December 19, 2004 These tiny fishes are gasping for breath every few seconds, bobbing up and down in a pond near my home. Had to use quitre a fast speed to get it sharp. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted December 19, 2004 Nicely composed and wonderful DOF. The bubbles are super not only for their own merit to the poto composition, but because they give me frame of referrence to how small they are, nice job! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 19, 2004 I like the abstract look to this one. The bubbles do add a lot. Cool shot! Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted December 20, 2004 Jayme, Bob, Kim thanks for your visit. I am actually intrigued by these fishes which are about 1.5 cm in length. These school of fishes actually bunch together for safety and it will be quite easy for me to scoop perhaps 200 or so in a net when they rise to breath. Never actually realize they exist until now. LOL! Reminds me of the sardine run in S. Africa albeit in a much larger scale. Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted December 20, 2004 What a mastery shot, Alec. The color of the water, the bubbles, the twisting fish. Very good indeed. Link to comment

alecee 0 Posted December 22, 2004 Thanks Sircar, Paula. A friend of mine told me that these small fry are from the snakehead fish which recently made headline in the news in USA. It grows to more than 3 meters in length and is a voracious eater just like the piranha. It will gobble up any other fishes in the pond and is banned in USA. The Chinese however consider it a delicacy in their cuisine. ^_^ Note. These fry are actually released from the safety of their mother's mouth to breathe so the adult female is actually lurking nearby. Wow! Link to comment
