Trapping Net

Paula, this is wonderful! This speaks volumes to me about autumn - the way the wind has placed the leaves there, yet the photo cannot capture the wind itself. I might crop out the fence post...but then, I might not, too:)

Good eye to capture the interest in this scene. This is the product of an obvious eye for patterns, leading lines, perspective, thirds, complementary colours and genearl composition! Who would have thought you could achieve all of that in such a simple shot? I can imagine the large trapped leaf, just waiting for the right moment to break free and escape out of the small opening in the upper right hand corner. I think the tree adds a subtle sub plot, depicting the leaf's origins and may help to anchor the scene together. It might be just a tad better if the veritcal fence post were not there, but a cool shot nevertheless!

I want to post my warm thanks you to you all for commenting. That's what I like best when I post a photo. Of course, if the comments are positive it's extremely gratifying; yet, I have learned a lot also from the less successful shots and the constructive fedback I have received.

 

Especially glad for thre appreciation of this photo as when my eye caught the trapped leaf ( I was at school during the break), I had to go pick my camera and shoot. One of those treasures nature always offers. One is never attentive enough.

 

( My students looked at me strangely, I am sure they thought I am weird..but dared not say it:-)

Great idea.... I hope you did not use any glue for the leaf... lol. Just kidding. Loved the colors and backlit of the trapped leaf.

I think the picture of you climbing to the leaf and the backlit leaf itself in the frame would have been more eventful and dramatic, if someone had made good use of this incredible moment. May be a copy to your boss would have conveyed your quest for the best in photography and may have resulted in handsome salary raise.. who knows...

Zafar, a rise in salary? Lord! I have to remember this and put up a show to see how the headmaster will react. I'll admit, though, I have thought of a second version of the photo with me in the net; maybe in my vacation period ( so close now), I will try.

A Canon 1Ds Mark II? Mmmm, I doubt for this year.

Spending a Saturday morning going through your images here. This one tickle my fancy a bunch. The close up, wide angle use is dramatic, the chain-linked fence communicates great depth, the complimentary orange and blue work together like a charm, and the little leaves make for another layer of interesting background. My only wish is for a bit more sharpness (perhaps hitting a macro button when shooting close?) Nice one, Paula! ^_^

Wilson, what a nice visit and great comment to this photo. You are right on the sharpness thing, too, especially top left, but the magic of the moment passed with the breeze, and of the shots I had, this was the most satisfactory.Thank you.

This is beautifully done. My only suggestion would be to crop out the right side of the image or use a little different angle so that the distrating elments don't show in the frame. It should be just the leaf and the net. This image reminds me of "Trapped". 7/6
