Guest Guest Posted December 12, 2004 6/7 Very good. I like the rounded smoothness of the woman's body against the harsh irregularities of the brick wall, and her tattoos and piercings. Nice contrast of the natural and the manmade. Link to comment
robiek 0 Posted December 12, 2004 Thanks, you certainly see the same as I. The disorderly shape and array of the tiles plus the perfect (Mandelbrot set) shape of the tattoo. Please read the James Gleick book "Chaos: Making a new science"...it's math, physics and the geometry of nature in an interesting package. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 15, 2004 BTW, I ordered a copy of "Chaos...", should be here in time for Christmas. Looking forward to it. Link to comment
viktorsundberg 0 Posted February 3, 2005 The execution of this is not very good. The skin is too dead, too grey and undramatic. The shadows are harsh and actually, when I think of it, the idea of skin against a brick wall is not very original. The razor blade, piercings and tatoos just don't make up for it. Sorry, try again... Link to comment
arthur_studio 0 Posted February 3, 2005 I think you can ignore that last comment. Take a look at his 4 rather lame photographs to see who is judging you so harshly. This is a fine photograph, indeed. The only thing I'd like to see more of is... her. If you like "Chaos," you should look at "Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why" (W.W. Norton) Link to comment
robiek 0 Posted February 5, 2005 Yes Viktor, I suppose you are right in your comment of this uneventful view....perhaps part of the undramatic greyness can be attributed to my inept scanning skills. Arthur...I'll certainly post more work in my portfolio in the near future. And yes if the Gleick book is academic then the Laurence Gonzales book you refer to is pragmatic..filled with everyday practicalities of good use. Link to comment
