salvatore.mele 1 Posted December 9, 2004 While shooting it, I had some brilliant idea about cropping it... andthen once back home, it just seemed right without any furthermodifications. What would you propose me to do with this? Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Eek! You've outdone the cropping skills of Stephen 'The Crop' Forsyth! Hehehe... Abstracts like this are tough, but how about this for an idea. Need to keep the width, but the bottom ripple, I'm not convinced. Maybe if you cropped away most of it so that it just fills the corner, suggesting a countinuation of the ripples, but also providing an 'end' to them, to give more structure? Maybe I'm talking out my backside with that idea, I'm not sure... I also reduced highlights by -15, midtones by -9, and increased shadows by 9, although that's lowered the contrast a bit, maybe you'd prefer the blacks a bit blacker... And the mirror image was just a last minute idea. Tough type of photo to crop, little changes can make or break it... what do you think? Link to comment

AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Two interacting patterns always add energy to an image, especially if they run perpendicular to each another. I like how you have maintaned much of the curves, but I'm unsure about the upper right patch. My eye tends to want be pulled away from the lines by it. I can't quite figure out a way to lessen it. Cropping from the right doesn't work as the ripples begin to level out. I prefer the bottom in the original. It doesn't give such a rigid halt to the ripples. Link to comment
biskamp 1 Posted January 25, 2005 this is a fascinating quasi-abstract pattern. at first I thought you should crop it a bit on the top, but after giving it a second look, it appears perfect this way. cheers, dieter Link to comment
