marionovak 0 Posted December 7, 2004 I like balance between positive and negative space. This is same formation of clouds I was chasing in previous shot Link to comment
suresh randadath 0 Posted December 7, 2004 Mario, this is a great shot. The lone man in the distance gives scale and character to this photo. Looks like he is challenging the oncoming thunderstorm. Very well done. Your chasing was worthwhile I guess:-) Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted December 7, 2004 Such strange lighting. It's almost like you had a split ND filter on the left. I wouldn't say there is much balance here - three out of four quadrants are in shadow, leaving only a strip down the middle and the upper right. But then again, I'm always open to hearing different perspectives. The horizon looks to be off a bit, even though there is a slight hill on the beach. Link to comment
marionovak 0 Posted December 8, 2004 If you are too hang up on formulas, there is no room for creativity and, no, I don't use any ND filters,.. it's the way I have experinced the shot Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted December 8, 2004 Who said anything about formulas? It's just that the dark areas are competing for attention. If you cropped some of the left, it would even things out a bit, and still show how this unusual cloud formation is creating unusal lighting. All I was saying is that there really isn't balance here. And I never said you did use a split ND. This might make a very interesting square crop, too; it would bring out the subject. Link to comment
marionovak 0 Posted December 9, 2004 Please don't,.. It's great ,. were are here to teach each other and other people as well. There is nothing better than constructive argument. As a matter of fact, original shot is more like your cropping, but as an artist , being in the mood for panoramas at the moment, I cropped the image, to be that way Link to comment
marionovak 0 Posted December 9, 2004 Oh, I forgot, one things is how that looks on line and totaly different as a print in real life Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted December 9, 2004 I thought it had to be cropped when I read "6x7" in the tech details. Link to comment
