rjacksonphoto 0 Posted December 3, 2004 I really like this a lot, Doug. It's the kind of thing I like to shoot. However, I find myself wanting just a little separation between the foreground branches and the distant trees. Also, the more I look at it, the crooked horizon bothers me some (although I am not a level horizon freak, in general). Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted December 3, 2004 Hi R. Thanks for your observation. I generally like level horizons, too. I must have let this one slip by. Although the ground here wasn't level to begin with, I usually go ahead and straighten it out. Musta been in a hurry. On the separation, do you mean the foreground branch would look better if it were raised up, and there were sky between it and the distant trees, or do you mean you wish the foreground branches stood out more. I think the former, just making sure. That would have been easy to do, just squat down a little more, but I actually wanted to have some overlap. I shot it with pine needle branches, too, and those have sky between. Link to comment
rjacksonphoto 0 Posted December 4, 2004 I think I prefer this one over the one with pine branches. I was just thinking that the outline of the foreground branches is such a nice fit for the outline of the distant trees that this could be accentuated by not overlapping them. It's still a wonderful shot. The series, in general, is great. I would, however, thin it a little as some of the shots are redundant. Keep it up, always a pleasure to look at your stuff. dougityb 0 Posted December 4, 2004 Oh yeah, I see what you mean about the overlap. hmm. Good point. Always so many ways to make a composition, aren't there. I will do some thinning at some point. Some of these are even posted twice, once square, once in widescreen. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted August 25, 2008 Hadn't seen this one before... The best in this pretty good folder, I think. I can like it just as you presented it, but I could perhaps like it even more with a little more contrast. It all depends how much sadness you want to keep in this frame ? :-) Cheers. Link to comment
