Immo the image becomes much stronger when you cut out everything above the balcony. The rythm in te stairs and the balcony is so fantastic that you don't need more in this photo. The towel is the neccesary element that breaks the symmetry and the rythm.

At first I thought the little bit of roof should be cropped out, but when I blocked it, I didn't like it as well. Everything seems to flow together and make an interesting overall pattern of lines.

There's a lot to look at here. I like the image, lots of texture. I say leave the roof as you have it. The towel is really a nice touch.

Well seen. Good strong pattern. I agree with Kim, leave the crop as it is. I particularly like the tonal quality of the timber handrail.

Ken, I think it is a very good lined composition. Lines are going parallel and in diferent direction, but every direction has an " answer", and that is ballance.B/W are a good choice as well Pnina

Love the lines and angles here. It would have caught my eye, too ... but I don't know that I would have captured it as well. B&W is a great choice ... color would be distracting. The crop is just perfect. Nice work!!

Ken, a clever choice of black & white. It really shows the detail very well. Great tonality. I was wondering about cropping off the roof as well, but it does add some gritty feel to the image. Kind of wonder what the home owner might look like. ^_^

Wils, my guess is the inhabitants of the apartment are renters with an alternative type of mindset. This is in Louisville's Highlands area which is kinda like a mini equivalent of Greenwich Village.

very well done Ken. excellent composition that accentuates the lines, shapes and textures. Great choice of b/w to dramaticize the superb tones and shadows.
