afterthoughts 0 Posted November 29, 2004 Image Objective: There are hundreds of images posted each year of the Canada goose (Branta canadensis). BEING CLEAN IS IMPORTANT TO A BIRD is an attempt to show this bird differently. I wanted to show the bird doing something natural in great detail in an original and artistic way. How well did I succeed in accomplishing the Image Objective? Link to comment
warren williams 0 Posted November 29, 2004 Come to think of it, your detail on this one seems to be better than the colour shot. Yes, this is good! Link to comment

aepelbacher 0 Posted November 30, 2004 Great shot, Howard. The high key works very well here. I like the angle that you have, also. Much more interesting than if you had shot from the side. The texture in the feathers really stands out. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 30, 2004 I'm still leaning with the color shot of the bird, but this one does have great detail in the feathers. The high key effect has worked miracles on the background, too. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted November 30, 2004 Howard- The detail of the feathers is really amazing. The action of the bird and the angle of view is certainly unique, I like that. I like the way he fills the frame. My only complaint is the duck's bill & eye seems to get a little lost. Easily corrected. I would lighten both the bill and the eye just a bit just for delineation purposes. See attached suggestion. I did not dodge, I used a layer mask on a backround copy in screen mode, filled with black and painted with white to lighten, it saves the details. Hope you don't mind my playing. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted December 1, 2004 Very nice detail, Howard. I like how you take the high-key road to bird images as well. That really individualize your work. ^_^ Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted December 1, 2004 Nice high key effect. Would agree with Jayme's rendition in better defining the head and eye. Otherwise, good work. Link to comment
