robertbrown 1 Posted November 23, 2004 Comments, ratings appreciated on dock abstract--this image was sandwiched with a sharp and unsharp copy layered in PS for softer, more saturated image. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted November 24, 2004 As I'm not into softening, I will restrict the criticism to the composition, which I find excellent. I like the "almost" symmetry of the shot. The reflected sky nicely balances the upper left part, and everything seems symmetric, but at a closer look is not, with different patterns of holes showing up due to dhe angle of the dock... I keep flipping between the holes in the reflection and in the original and enyou the see-no see patterns. A problem I usually have with holes/balls/bubbles/balloons and everything roughly circular in shape is that they are easy to spot when they are cropped like it happens for the upper and rightmost one of the dockm and the lowest on the reflection. I would have liked this image a lot more if this was not the case, but, given the density of the holes, I doubt it was any possible to figure out a way not to get some cropped. All in all, a nice way of composing the shot... As for the softening, I guess you got that I did not really like it, but that's personal, I reckon. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Top left sharp and clear when the rest isn't...? That bothers me somehow... Link to comment
charlotte 0 Posted February 18, 2005 i think the contrast between sharpness and bur works really well and adds interest to the image:) www.charlotteaberg.com Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted February 18, 2005 Marc, I hadn't noticed that the top was sharp, but you're absolutely right and it is a bit troublesome. Salvatore, I agree with you about the cropped holes and I did try some different compositions. Charlotte, thanks for your comments. Despite some problems, I still like this one. Link to comment
