slyndan 0 Posted November 22, 2004 Great capture. Would be better if you could PS out those few blurry branchesin the front. The birds got attitude...it's too bad you can't see all of him. Thanks! Link to comment
djarvik 0 Posted November 22, 2004 What a catch! ahhh, if only these branches whouldn't be there. Nevertheless, wonderfull capture. Thanks Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted November 22, 2004 LOL, that looks like one of my birds sounds! LOL. What a big mouth, super capture. You and Kim are going to have to pool your animal shots and do a book! Howard, you could write the stories! Link to comment
r_e 0 Posted November 22, 2004 CR: Let me try to stop the branches-theme. You are getting old? This had been your last picture before you lost your camera? I think - NO! So I suppose that this picture is pure intention like it is. And it is unique in this way: The bird, defending itself behind its "citadel", we dont see it as a whole but it does see us! Like the cavalier out of his helmet ... RE Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted November 22, 2004 RE, you may be the first to understand the truth. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 23, 2004 I'd be tempted to clone out a few little stragglers, but overall I think you need the natural "cage" formed by the branches. Great detail and sharpness on the bird and pleasing lighting. So when are we going to get together for a bird shoot, Howard?? Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 23, 2004 That's the Slonaker method according to Ken - furry slippers, nightwear and making strange birdie noises as you go. Having a lizard on your shoulder helps, too. :) Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted November 23, 2004 Great capture, Howard; I love the bird 'hiding out' behind the branches, scolding you. Nice work. Regards. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 23, 2004 That and your duck, are so funny... looking at them, I smile , reading the caption as well. Thank you for the smile, Howard. Pnina Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted November 23, 2004 Oh please, oh please, let me come along just to photograph your journey! LOL Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted November 23, 2004 ...drag me along too, will 'ya? ^_^ Howard, I like the natural look to this. Initially I felt the branch crossing the little guy's face is distracting, but then after a while, it's what make this image unique. It's quite natural, and full of life (mainly due to the chirping action.) May be cropping off top and go with a square might even be stronger? Just a suggestion (waiting for Paul G. to come by to say my suggestion sucks. ^_^) Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted November 23, 2004 Howard, nice catch on this one even with those distracting branches. Is that a song sparrow? I like song sparrows, I have one in my folder too. Take a look if you get the chance. Thanks!! Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted November 24, 2004 Love the execution of this one. Very nice detail and composition. You must love that new lens. Link to comment
tlsohl 0 Posted November 24, 2004 Sorry, I just don't see it. Even if it's intention, as R.E.implies, this just doesn't work. Maybe if the one branch weren't blocking out his head, but as is, it just doesn't work. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted November 24, 2004 I little guy was hiding in a bush chripping as load as he could at me and my camera. It's a candid live action shot. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted November 28, 2004 I agree about the branch just in front of his eye. Otherwise, it's a fun shot. Great caption, too!! Link to comment
